Kim Thomas writes mainly on education, social care, healthcare and IT. She has written extensively both for newspapers such as the Financial Times and The Guardian and for B2B publications, including Public Finance, Digital Health and Computing. As well as writing for the Guardian, she has also done subbing shifts and commissioning work for the professional networks. In 2017, Kim was shortlisted in the CIPR education journalism awards in the schools category.

Between 2009 and 2014, she edited Perspective, a quarterly CPD publication for NCT practitioners and midwives, focusing on childbirth, breastfeeding and postnatal care.

In 2014, Kim worked for six months commissioning and editing content on the Guardian's higher education network, a website aimed at academics and others working in the sector.

Books include "Primary School - A Parent's Guide", "A Parents' Guide to Secondary School" and "Birth trauma", a guide for women suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after birth. Kim is also press officer for the Birth Trauma Association and is available for comment on issues relating to maternity.

Kim is also available for corporate copywriting work. Past clients include Microsoft, Siemens and Motorola Solutions, among others.

Her educational qualifications include a Ph.D. from Aston Business School and a postgraduate certificate in journalism from the London College of Printing. She is currently studying part-time for an MSc at the University of Oxford.
