I started my career working as a technology news / feature writer and reviewer for what is now Imagine Publishing but was at one time Paragon Publishing in Bournemouth.
From there I went out to Dubai to work for CPI - the Middle East arm of the world's biggest IT publisher - as a magazine and online editor.
When I returned to the UK in April 2001 I started freelancing for a variety of leading IT and technology magazines. I also branched out into the production of corporate newsletters and eventually PR work and technology consultancy work for the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
I then made a complete change and moved to Manchester and spent two years working as a Press Officer for Greater Manchester Police, before moving to The University of Manchester, where I currently work as a Media Relations Officer covering science PR, technology PR and engineering PR.
I recently started a specialst PR consultancy called STEM Media, which specialises in promoting science, technology, engineering and medical stories to the mainstream media.
