I've spent 20 years in the media. For around 15 years I was a staff journalist working in Yorkshire then the North East, with key focusses on human interest, hard news, court and other in-depth backgrounders, features series on current issues. I've run city and district offices on morning and evening newspapers and in recent years turned my hand to freelancing. Initially this was mainly for BBC local radio. Now I work across a variety of projects both creative and journalistic, from print to film. I have special personal interests in the following topics (but can work on general news and features in any topic as sourcing appropriate contacts/experts is one of my fortes): ethics, science, women's issues (from women's mag to women's rights debates), alternative lifestyles/therapies, crime backgrounders, human interest, art, ICT and digital media (particularly in education/cutting edge).
