I am a freelance journalist specialising in business writing on
the following subjects: E-commerce, mobile communications,
semiconductors, foreign investment, M&A, world trade and oil
and gas. I am also a specialist on business, economics and
politics in Ireland.
Since July 2000 I have been an assitant editor with Platts Metals, a commodities newswire service/newsletter covering the metals and mining industry.
My duties include news and feature writing, sub-editing, research and developing coverage in new markets, managing freelancers, commissioning stringer copy, layout and production on newsletters, liasing with web-editors on content and presentation
I have covered the following industries, issues: Company news, labour relations, environmental issues, financial markets including equities and foreign exchange, downstream sectors such as the automotive, aerospace, electronics industries.
Prior to working for Platts, I have worked full time for Corporate
Location Magazine and website (foreign investment in E-commerce, semiconductors, automotives and high tech maunfacturing), and freelanced for Energy24.com (oil and gas). In Ireland, I completeted a six-week placement with the Sunday Business Post (general business,
E-commerce, computer hardware).
I have an NCTJ certificate and University of Ulster diploma (both
1999) in the following modules: News writing, shorthand, law
and public affairs.
At Euromoney Institutional Investor (owner of Corporate
Location) I passed courses in advanced editorial, news writing,
feature writing, financial markets and sub-editing.
I also have a Key Training (London) certificate in Basic Quark

Excel and powerpoint
