Currently editor of The Motor Ship. Have been on staff of Motor Boat & Yachting, The Motor Ship (before - back in the 1980s), Have also been editor of Safety at Sea International, Marine Propulsion, Small Ships, Ship & Boat Intl and Worldwide Independent Power. Also written for various other titles, such as The Naval Architect, Motorboats Monthly, Lloyd's List, Maritime Journal.
I live in both England and France, so am able (and keen) to contribute material on French property and lifestyle, particularly the practicalities of working in, and commuting between, the two countries. The honest, gritty, stuff, not the glossy rose-tinted lifetyle material you find elsewhere. France is a great place to retire to if you have a good pension (preferably protected against exchange rates). However if you want to work there it's a different story; it can pan out well if you do your homework and understand that France is NOT England with cheap booze. But all too many British get the sums wrong and fail.
