I did a degree in English Literature at the College of York St. John, followed by a year working for the Inland Revenue. In this time, I was a professional doorman on the streets of York and Sheffield. I later did a PG Diploma in English Literature at the University of Sheffield before spending a year working for NCUK, a company based at Manchester University, where I was in charge of the majority of the company's publications, brochures and other PR material. Since then, I spent a year teaching English in Japan while working freelance as a combat sports writer (not reporter). Since returning, I freelanced for eight months until I began work at Cover Magazine, an insurance and income protection publication.
