Chris Goffey was one of the longest serving presenters on BBC 2's motoring programme, 'Top Gear'. He first appeared on the show in l981, having edited and presented Thames Television's motoring programme 'Wheels' with Shaw Taylor for the previous two years.
In the mid 80's he crossed to the then new Channel Four, to make two motoring series, 'The Motor Show' and 'Wheeltracks' before returning to the Top Gear fold where he saw the programme grow regularly, to become one of the best watched series on BBC2. He left in 1999.

He appeared on Granada Plus Television to report for their 'Men and Motors' motoring programme, and present their "Asking Price" quiz show, and appears regularly on Central Television News as their motoring "expert".

Chris has become a regular producer, scriptwriter and presenter of corporate, instructional and motivational videos for a variety of clients. The majority are in the car, commercial vehicle and motor components industries, but others include Government Departments, many for the Army, the Navy the Royal Air Force, and Transport for London.

His background is in journalism, after a career as a reporter on local, regional and evening papers he joined "The Autocar" magazine in l972, and for six years was road tester and news editor before taking over editorship of the industry newspaper, the "Motor Trader". When "The Independent" newspaper was launched, he joined the staff to edit the motoring page for two years.

He became a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4 and 5 as well as many other regional and local radio and television stations.

Chris presents and chairs conferences and product launches and speaks at functions and dinners.

He is still a keen rider despite recovering fully from a broken neck after a fall in April '99, keeps his own horses at his home in Oxfordshire, together with a breeding herd of alpacas, dogs, cats and classic cars which include a "Maigret" style 1949 Citroen.

Motor sport has always been a great love, and he competes whenever offered a drive! He also rides motorbikes, holds a Class One HGV Licence and a current double decker bus PSV driver's licence - gained from presenting training videos for London Transport!
