|Full name||Sarah Irving|
I'm a UK-based freelance specialising in environmental, social, political and women's issues. I've written about green weddings for the Big Issue, ethical insurance for Ethical Consumer magazine, labour rights for Palestinian women workers for Electronic Intifada, holidays in Granada for The Arab and local authority responses to recession for New Start, and much more besides. I also offer copywriting, proofing and editing services, especially to social and ethical businesses and the not-for-profit sector. My photographs have also been used for travel, politics and lifestyle pieces by publications including Big Issue in the North, The Arab, Red Pepper and Manchester Evening News. My first book, Gaza: Beneath the Bombs, co-authored with Sharyn Lock, was published by Pluto Press in 2010. My new version of the Bradt Guide to Palestine will be out in 2011, and my biography of Palestinian fighter Leila Khaled will be published by Pluto in 2012.

With over a decade's experience of working in and writing about social enterprises, the not-for-profit sector and workers' co-operatives, as well as working in in Palestine and the wider Middle East, I'm passionate about the social and environmental justice issues I write about. I also have an MA in international political economy and a degree in social anthropology.
