With a background in media, communications, leisure, entertainment and telecommunications, Darryll Adler BA Hons., MA (Journalism), MBA (NYU) blends her expertise advising major companies with a recent career ‘addition’: consulting in and reporting on the business of sport.
Darryll has been writing in detail about London 2012 since the city first published its intention to bid. She can recount many details of the bid process, the decision in Singapore, the legacy potential of venues and infrastructure; and the potential opportunities for corporates to take advantage of the 'opportunities' that the Games can offer. She has interviewed many of the athletes who hope to medal in 2012 and speaks on the circuit on the topic of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
She is an expert in the field and her knowledge extends to financial analysis; dissecting the role of technology and new media; as well as predicting the future of the expansion of London and the impact of major events and destination marketing.
Darryll has written for most of the major sports business publications as well as newspapers and other business magazines including Wired, New Media Age and Business Travel Executive.
Working for TV/Newspaper groups (eg. Thames Television, Mirror Group Newspapers); advising international companies (NYNEX, Lazard Freres); managing cable franchise applications; founding US/UK start-ups; and lecturing on MBA programs, Darryll has been interviewed by the media on subjects as diverse as Olympic bids and whether David Cameron should rebrand the Conservative Party.
After following the 2012 bids to host the Summer Olympics, Darryll published a major report: 2012 Olympics: Risk and Return.
