I started my journalism career in 1992 on the launch of Focus magazine (science & tech then published by Gruner & Jahr) - working variously as editorial assistant, picture research assistant, production assistant, features writer, and reviews editor.
I took on a part-time reviews editor role in 1998 while also pursuing a freelance career as a movie/book/gadget and computer games reviewer for key national titles like Maxim, Stuff, Evening Standard et al.
When Focus was sold to the BBC in 2001 I continued as a freelance writer and reviews editor for the award-winning teenage science & tech title Flipside - while also pursuing a new career as Deputy PR Manager for an international pro-choice/reproductive healthcare NGO - working on high profile national and international projects with all major media outlets. I was also required to utilise my journalistic experience to regularly write/edit for the NGO's in-house magazine and also for outside titles (like Sugar magazine).
I moved to Morocco in 2007 and while continuing to work remotely as reviews editor/features writer for Flipside (until it closed in 2014), I began travel writing for airline magazines - easyJet Traveller, Ryan Air etc - while simultaneously designing and building a house on the SW coast.
I am now a regular contributor to the 'students & early career' section of Engineering & Technology magazine, manage a successful Air BnB rental business and am about to revive my travel writing career. I am also available for general interest features and copywriting.
