|Full name||Mike Gerrard|
I write features on travel, especially food and drink travel, for newspapers including the Times, and for websites. I'm the Feature Writer on UK/Ireland Travel for Suite101, an online magazine which currently has 10 million unique visitors per month. I also write guidebooks for numerous publishers including the AA, National Geographic, New Holland, Insight and Dorling Kindersley. In addition, I publish my own websites, one about Greece and one about America's Pacific Coast Highway. I worked on the Official Travel Guide for the Rugby World Cup 2007, and have written a podcast for American Express. Areas of expertise include Greece; European cities including Paris, Amsterdam, Venice and London; the USA especially the south and south-west - I spend at least half the year in the USA as I have a home in Arizona and a Green Card (which is disappointingly white).

I've been a full-time professional travel writer for about 20 years, and before that was a general feature writer. I've written numerous travel pieces for newspapers and magazines worldwide, about 30 guidebooks, an erotic novel, one podcast and three radio plays. My work has won a Travelex Award, a British Guild of Travel Writers Award, two Awards for Excellence from the Outdoor Writers Guild and a Benjamin Franklin Award for a guidebook to Paris
