My last role was Executive Editor of IT and business publication ZDNet.co.uk, owned by leading online publisher CNET Networks. Reporting to the Site Director I was responsible for the day to day management and editorial strategy of a web only publication aimed at IT managers and technology enthusiasts.
ZDNet.co.uk is at the forefront of online community development, fusing traditional editorial with member created content. In 2007, the site was voted Best Business Website by the Association of Online Publishers (AOP) mainly for the work done around online community. A substantial redesign in 2006 was motivated by the need to elevate readers to become fully interactive members of the site and allow them to not only comment on stories, but upload their own blogs, photos and eventually video. I was heavily involved in the planning, design and development of the latest incarnation of a website with a ten year history.
Prior to working at CNET, I freelanced in Australia and worked for VNU for four years on titles including Computing and VNUnet
