I am a freelance writer, editor and project manager based in Leicester in the UK. My interests lie mainly within the life sciences, where my knowledge and experience range from biofuels, to neuroscience, to cancer genetics. Prior to becoming a freelancer, I gained several years experience in the STM publishing industry as the Acquisitions and Journal Development Editor at BioMed Central, where I was responsible for researching and establishing new cutting-edge academic journals. My academic experience is broad; I have a degree from University College London in Cell Biology, a Masters from the University of Edinburgh in human genetics, and a PhD from the MRC Human Genetics Unit in cancer genetics, as well as several years postdoctoral experience in developmental neuroscience at University College London
