She believes that many senior managers and leaders have never developed this essential skill, and her intensive programmes can help anyone pitch and present with far greater power and persuasion, leading to improved business results all round. Business & Marketing Miriam’s business track record is impressive. By the age of 26 she had set up and was running her own successful event management company, and was managing a luxury boutique hotel in the Caribbean. After a stint as a contestant on the first UK series of the Apprentice, Miriam built on her existing experience taking on a major role for Lloyds TSB, managing their corporate hospitality and sponsorship programme, then heading up their corporate partnership with the London 2012 Olympic Games. She now runs her own marketing and business consultancy, drawing on her extensive marketing communications experience and knowledge to analyse a business' strategies, communications and brand, helping them make changes which dramatically improve their perception in their chosen markets. Travel / tourism With a BA in French and Spanish coupled with a passion for language, foreign culture and travel, Miriam has had opportunities to not only visit, but also live in a number of different countries. She has spent extensive time in both France and Spain, and also lived in the French West Indies for four years. Miriam was the resident manager of a luxury boutique hotel in St. Martin, dramatically increasing occupation levels and improving customer reviews during her time there, as well as undertaking a full refurbishment of the property. Her knowledge and experience in the travel and tourism industry prompted a new business venture with her husband, Sam. They created a series of fresh and innovative travel guides to London, www.my-london-guide.com. Giving a local, insider’s view of our capital, these guides are all in audio format, and can be combined to build a very personal travel resource for each individual customer. Miriam and Sam have also compiled their knowledge of St. Martin to produce an online e-guide to this Caribbean island, available at www.st-martin-maarten.com Customer Experience As a dynamic speaker and consultant, one of Miriam’s driving passions is customer experience, and the dramatic impact that great service can make on any business’ bottom-line. With first-hand experience in the service industry and proven results in this field, Miriam’s enthusiasm and knowledge make her the perfect subject-matter expert, with the ability to look over a business and tailor strategic solutions which are easy to implement. NLP / Hypnosis Miriam is a certified Master Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Ericksonian Hypnosis Practitioner. She has trained with some of the biggest names in the industry and has an ongoing fascination with the way that the subconscious mind impacts the results we generate in our lives. She puts many of these skills and techniques into practice in the speaking and coaching work that she undertakes. Family Married to Sam for more than 10 years, Miriam is now also mum to two fabulous children – Elsa Joy (born March 2009) and Cayden (born October 2010). Having children has plunged her into a world of real nappies, baby-led weaning, baby sign language and the interesting challenge of bringing up her children to be bilingual, with French as the Staley’s primary home language. Miriam has recently been heavily involved with producing an e-guide on ‘Baby-led Weaning’, presenting a demonstration video for the book with her daughter, and a promotion video on the site: www.babyled-weaning.com Food & Cookery Miriam has always been a keen foodie, and her various jobs in the hospitality industry have given her the opportunity to sample some of the best – and worst food – available. As a busy mum, she is also keen to ensure that her children grow up with a great relationship with food, and faces the daily challenge of feeding her family in a healthy but efficient way. Miriam loves cooking with her daughter, nearly as much as Elsa Joy loves licking the cake batter off the spoon!

At the age of only 26, Miriam made it to the final five contestants on the first series of The Apprentice UK, and notably received a public apology from Sir Alan after he fired her, admitting that he had made a mistake.
The programme was a real spring-board for Miriam’s business and entrepreneurial interests. She moved back to the UK from the Caribbean, landing a job with Lloyds TSB heading up their corporate sponsorship and hospitality programme. This role gave her invaluable first-hand knowledge of a major corporate company, and also the opportunity to work directly on the organisation’s partnership with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Following her maternity leave, and due to a major internal restructure, Miriam decided to leave the company to pursue her own business interests, setting up a marketing and communication consultancy and pursuing her speaking and presenting career.
