|Full name||Shawn Connelly|
I am a freelance craft beer writer and retail beer consultant living in Southern Illinois. I currently write the beer style profiles for the nationally-distributed craft and specialty beer periodical - Beer Connoisseur Magazine. My personal blog, beerphilosopher.com, enjoys worldwide readership and has been active since 2006. My focused areas of interest are beer style classification, beer and food pairings and home brewing. I am also the founder of The Aleuminati - the (not so) secret society of better beer drinkers. A beer-centric social network that enjoys a robust membership of nearly 3000, to date, and provides an interactive forum for sharing craft and specialty beer news, reviews, photos, videos and events.

My name is Shawn Connelly and I am a freelance beer writer and retail consultant living in Southern Illinois. I am a father to my two terrific sons, Owen and Jameson, and a husband to my gorgeous wife, Erin. When I'm not spending time with my family, I am likely spending time with fine ales and lagers. I have been a devoted fan of craft beer for nearly 20 years now, and have sampled, cellared and shared hundreds of the world's finest beers with friends and clients. My passion is well-documented on my blog - beerphilosopher.com. Started in the Spring of 2006, beerphilosopher.com has been the primary repository for hundreds of my beer reviews, news items, editorials and photos. More recently, I have begun a social networking site dedicated to better beer I have named "The Aleuminati - the (not so) secret society of better beer drinkers." With nearly 1,000 members in less than two years of existence, the Aleuminati has become a destination for all things beer and enjoys a diverse membership that spans over two dozen states in the U.S., in addition to Canada, the U.K., Belgium, Germany, Asia and others.
I am not a professional writer, at least in the traditional sense of the word. I consider myself to be a well-informed and passionate citizen journalist dedicated to to the propagation of better beer and it's enjoyment. This passion has driven me to produce articles that have been published in a wide range of beer-related resources and my blog has been syndicated in numerous markets throughout the U.S. and overseas.
