I am an award-winning business journalist with 25 years' experience in daily newspaper journalism and PR. I work quickly and accurately to tight deadlines and am readily accessible, with a hands-on approach to commissions, bringing into play extensive writing skills and broad professional experience.
2001-2008 - Freelance journalist and copywriter running my own business. Publications worked for include Newsco-Insider magazines (North West, Yorkshire, Midlands and Wales Business Insiders) and the Manchester Evening News, as well as national newspapers and trade titles. I have been editor of Newsco-Insider’s North West plc annual economic survey from 2005 to 2008. In addition, I have worked on newsletters, magazines and brochures for British Aerospace Systems, the Ministry of Defence, Liverpool University, Edge Hill University, Manchester Business School, British Gas, and the Royal Mail.
1997-2001 KPMG – corporate communications manager, North West England, responsible for public and media relations across all aspects of the firm’s activities.
1995-97 Government News Network – deputy senior press officer, working with the Cabinet Office to upgrade presentation of policy in the regions.
1989-95 Bolton Evening News – political editor producing major stories including interviews at prime minister and cabinet minister level.
