Ruth Watson has always been fascinated with food and hospitality. She created a 33 bedroom hotel at Hintlesham Hall near Ipswich, opened the first gastropub in the country (the Fox and Goose at Fressingfield), and has owned and run the 21-bedroom Crown and Castle in Orford, Suffolk for the last 15 years.
Ruth was a food editor for Sainsbuy’s magazine for 7 years, winning the prestigious Glenfiddich award for food-writing twice. She was Food Editor of the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine for 2 years and has written 3 cookery books. She was the first Hotel Inspector on Five and presented three series of Country House Rescue on Channel 4.
She has been a consultant for Sainsbbury's and Carlsberg among other consultancies, and is currently Creative Director for the refurbishment and re-launch of Fortnum & Mason's Fountain restaurant.
