Iain has been a serving soldier in the Army Physical Training Corps for most of his working life. His primary role was of course the maintenance of the fitness of the soldiers under his command. He was additionally responsible for all aspects of adventurous activities within each unit, and this was where his real forte lay. He has organised, co-ordinated, participated and instructed on expeditions to many parts of the globe including Canada, Oman, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Cyprus, Spain, France and throughout the United Kingdom.
After discharge from the armed forces Iain was the landlord of a rural pub/restaurant in leafy Cheshire for a few years, but the desire for further travel experiences never really left him. Trips to Australia, Iceland, Austria, the Italian Süd Tirol and Spain helped to satisfy his wanderlust to some degree, however eventually his passion for travel became overwhelming . He therefore took the brave decision to give up the security of stable employment and resign from his position to attempt to combine his major passions, travel, writing, and photography into a career.
Iain was a regular writer for Mind, Body and Spirit the journal for his Corps, his articles had a biase towards expeditionary travel articles and he has been attempting to broaden his portfolio since then. He has also been a regular contributor to his local newspaper and now a very popular travel website where he has steadily attained a loyal and growing readership. His journal entries on this site have received some extremely favourable comments and several of these have become 'features'. He has now started his own online journal to record his future travels.
Iain is extremely passionate about travelling, a very competent writer and skilled photographer. He has a particular interest in adventurous activities and expeditionary journeys. In addition he has an interest in environmental issues.
