Trained at The St Helens Star newspaper, on Mersyside, before joining The Shields Gazette, in South Shields, South Tyneside, as chief reporter. Then moved into business, as a business reporter/sub-editor at The Northern Echo newspaper in Darlington, rising to Business Editor, before leaving to go freelance. While I continue to work freelance, I also work for a small business information publisher called Cobweb Information, based in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. For this organisation I produce fact sheets on small business matters, plus industry sector guides and business opportunity profiles. I am also responsible for writing local economic development case studies on interesting initiatives around the world, and interviewing major players in the international economic development field.
