IN a 35 year career, magazine business columnist of the year John Dwyer has covered consumer and industrial electronics, broadcasting and industrial automation. But he is best known for his coverage of the technological, legal, economic, environmental and human resources issues in industrial management and production.
Dwyer has edited Works Management and other titles for Findlay Publications of the UK. Before that he spent five years editing the Financial Times newsletter on manufacturing technology.
Dwyer is now a regular contributor to The Manufacturer and other Conquest Business Media titles, and Works Management and other titles published by Findlay Publications. His recent work includes a series of industrial case studies for Cranfield School of Management and the DTI, and editing a quarterly newsletter for the WestFocus group of west London Universities. Recent commercial work includes white papers for Sage and Chelford/SAP.
He would like to write more about health and safety issues - on the streets, in the air and in the workplace. He has already covered health and safety in the workplace and workplace accidents, revealing UK employers’ widespread flouting of health and safety law, and would like to develop more stories along similar lines.
In May 2002 the Periodical Publishers’ Association voted him Columnist of the Year for his Dwyer Dwells column on industrial matters in The Manufacturer. He was also profiled in the UK Press Gazette.
