During my freelance career, I have worked successfully as a writer, editor and journalist across the full media spectrum – mainstream journalism, B2B, B2C, contract publishing, PR and internal communications.
Today I run a home-based business providing editorial services to academic organisations, blue-chip companies, charities, government bodies, PR consultancies, design agencies and publishers.
I can write articles and features with flair, speed and accuracy, and in different styles for different media channels – in print or online. One of my key strengths is the ability to convey complex technical information to lay audiences by writing clear, concise and jargon-free copy. I use these same skills to write effective website content, press releases, case studies and white papers for companies in a range of industries.
In addition, I have extensive experience of editing and designing reports, newsletters, magazines and books in a wide variety of fields. Several corporate publications written and/or edited by me have been commended in the Communicators in Business Awards (now known as the Institute of Internal Communication Awards).
In recent years I have interviewed people from all walks of life in all sorts of environments, from teenage gang members on inner-city estates to captains of industry in City boardrooms. I can also provide images and illustrations using my picture editing skills or by taking my own photographs.
I am able to travel all over the UK and anywhere in the world to conduct research and interviews. My office is located in the heart of England, just over an hour by train from central London.
