Royston Ellis was born in Middlesex in 1941 and, after becoming famous as a youth commentator and pop poet backed by musicians who later became The Shadows, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page), left England age 20 for a life of travel before settling in 1980 in Sri Lanka. He is the author of over 60 published books including biographies, historical novels (as Richard Tresillian) and books on India, Mauritius, Maldives and Sri Lanka for Bradt Travel Guides.
