Dean has worked extensively within the wireless communications/telecoms R&D industry and has an accomplished career in software engineering, software/solution architecting and technical project management. He has developed real-time embedded and Windows device driver software, provided software/solution architecture and has managed teams across several new product developments for the Connected/Smart Home and Commercial automation industries; the Smart Metering/IoT/M2M domain; the infotainment and automotive sectors; mobile (cellular) phones; VoIP, DVB, IPTV, DigitalTV; Femtocells; Bluetooth wireless technology, Wi-Fi; EnOcean/ZigBee/Z-Wave technology and NFC.
His wireless research work has been patented.
Dean has supported and led multicultural engineering teams; has captured/analysed requirements, authored technical specifications (HLDs and LLDs) and other documentation for customers and third-parties across Europe, Asia and the US. Dean has been responsible for verification/certification and testing of new products, along with undertaking prototyping and rollout of product/software launches. Dean has always maintained a hands-on approach to technical project management, solution/software architecture and new product development. He has consistently worked within challenging timeframes and budgets (~5m€); delivered projects on time and has maintained a convivial, open and honest communication ethos when managing customer relationships/third-parties, stakeholders and/or senior management.
Dean is also a technology author and a popular columnist for Skype in Media, Technically Speaking and Telecoms.com. He is a passionate thought leader in his field and continues to provide an authoritative published and vocal presence within the broadcast technology and wireless communications industry.
