I'm a university graduate, class of 2009 with a Media Studies BSc degree. I'm a wheelchair user diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. I have never allowed my condition to get in the way of pursuing a successful career in the media industry, or my passion for movies, words, and media.
The creative and media industry is a competitive one. However, I’m not at all phased. My content deserves to be out there!
I've always had a keen interest in movies / TV as well as media, audiences and content analysis. I find words to be very comforting when expressing my views and opinions on subjects.
As well as a degree, I have experience in online journalism. Working with Moonproject.co.uk, Blogcritics.org, Drake Music, and 4th Estate. I host my own website beesbuzzinghoneycomb.com, this is where I showcase my views and opinions on a wide range of topics from movie reviews, movie analysis and music reviews to disability perception.
Alongside beesbuzzinghoneycomb, I host a Youtube channel entitled How We Roll, which clearly outlines my views on disability and other areas of interest. The channel is dedicated to depicting a different perspective on disability and aimed to turn the traditional stereotypes on its head. I produce, edit, and plan episodes for the channel.
There are and will be a variety of different subjects too. Such as just for fun vlog entries, reviews, cooking with bee and much more! My experience with Youtube is still fresh. However, I’m a quick learner, and I'm always up for a challenge. I'm committed to pursue a successful career in the media industry as a professional and successful journalist / writer.
Specialist areas
My forte lies in movie reviews. My articles are often technical and offer a detailed overview of audience perception. As well as a thorough analysis of video games, presenting a psychological perspective on the subject. My reviews provide a different outlook on film by focusing on certain elements of the production. Other objectives include identifying the reasons as to why it is there in the first place. It's always my intention to dive deep and analyse each segment of a production as much as I can. Primarily, I focus on camera work, and the denotation / connotations of the storyline, the iconography, and mise-en-scene. Addressing factors such as these into my reviews accommodate an understanding of the director’s intentions, but also explores how having these components in place can add value to the movie. I also specialise in disability perception, and the preconceptions of society as far as disability is concerned. I explore and elaborate on the possibility of how a disabled person's overall image can result in misjudgment, and affect one's self-confidence and demeanor. My articles on disability express nothing but realism. All of my titles are original, in-depth, informative, and based on real life experiences. I express and explore to the best of my ability. My experience in online journalism has led me to interview professionals, where appropriate for articles. As you can see from my portfolio, I address with personality, a voice. I like to draw my readers into my content and encourage them to think about what they’ve read.
