I‘m a friendly and flexible freelance journalist, business writer, editor and communications consultant with more than two decades of professional writing and editing experience under my hatband, ranging from bylined work for trade/consumer media and the national press to uncredited and ghostwritten communications work for corporate, SME, agency and nonprofit-sector clients.
I can turn my hand to most subjects and styles but my specialist field is new technology and its impact on business and society. I have a particular knack for translating technical concepts and issues into clear, well-crafted copy, as well as for teasing out and honing clients' messages to appeal to specific audiences – whether senior managers, technical types or the general public.
I take on both long-term projects and ad hoc commissions.
Journalistic credits include The Guardian, The Telegraph, Computer Weekly, Computing, Infosecurity Magazine, Stuff, Draper‘s, TechTarget.com, Silicon.com and VNUnet.com (among many). Private clients past and present for my writing and editing services include Fujitsu, Microsoft, CIO Connect, Redwood Publishing, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry PR, Caseworks Customer Interaction, BCS Cloudmedia, Gleanin.com, UK2 Group, Reed Exhibitions, Winmark, ITPR, La Fosse Associates, Steria, ICI and e-Skills UK.
A consummate wordsmith, my copy will always crackle and fizz – never daze and confuse. In my spare time, I write comic odes, sketches and songs, make amusing videos, tinker with new technology and campaign for a free and open Internet. I'm based between London and Cambridge.
