I started my career as a journalist and spent the 1990s writing for a range of health and social policy titles including Guardian Society, Health Service Journal, Nursing Times, Local Government Chronicle, Inside Housing and Community Care. This solid journalistic background has led me to specialise in the use of plain English as a copywriter and communications specialist.
By 2003 I had an MSc in multimedia and started working in the wider communications field, specialising in digital projects but continuing to focus on the public and voluntary sectors.
Over the past ten years my clients have included Microsoft, Logica, the Department of Health, the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Improvement and Development Agency, the National End of Life Care Programme and Primary Care Commissioning.
I’ve recently worked on several digital community engagement projects and firmly believe that high quality content – and the use of plain English – are key factors in their success.
